"A Tall Man with Dark Hair"

by: Bobbi
[Winnipeg, Manitoba]
Received: Dec 2, 2011

About five years ago, I was in my bedroom looking at my door. Nothing out of the ordinary, except when I closed my eyes. In those moments before I fell asleep, I hear my name called. I opened my eyes wide, frightened by the unfamiliar voice. Nothing was there. This happened for about three days, just before I would fall asleep. I would hear, "Bobbi." On the fourth night I remember hearing the voice and opening my eyes looking at the doorway. There standing was a tall man with dark hair slicked back and a shirt tucked in his jeans that were cuffed at the bottom. I stared at him, not in fear, but in curiosity. He just looked back. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them again, he was beside my bed. He then leaned over me whispering in my ear. I couldn't hear him, but I could see his lips moving. He then pulled away and smiled at me. I blinked and he was gone.

I told my mother what I saw and described him to her. She nodded and said if he came back tell him to go away. As the months past, there were no more visits by the strange man. It wasn't until nearly two years later I would see him again, only this time in a photograph. When I saw the picture, I was at a family member’s house with my mother. I turned to her and asked who that was. She told me it was my uncle. I never met him because he died before I was born. I still get goosebumps at remembering that moment.

"Woman Crawling with Her Legs Being Dragged Behind"

by: Bobbi
[Winnipeg, Manitoba]
Received: Dec 1, 2011

It started the same way any other ghost story starts; we moved in. After a few months of living in the house, my brother and I began to feel uneasy, unknowingly about the same thing. I remember sleeping in my room one night and waking up in a full panic and feeling myself gasp for air. I understand some might say it could have been because of a medical problem, but I myself am genuinely healthy. I have no breathing problems, and had never woken like that nor have I since. Anyway, when I opened my eyes, that’s when I saw her. She had round eyes, very dark too. Her hair was long, all one length, and her face was old and sunken in. She was there in a flash and gone just as fast. It was as if she was hovering over me. I slept with my light on for the rest of the night.

Summer came fast, and once it was warm enough for my brother to move his things up there, he did. There were two chairs at the end of the attic around a round green rug. They sat adjacent to the window by the stairs. I remember staring at one of the chairs, and for a moment there was an old man standing behind it. He was tall and slightly heavy, wore glasses, and had a mustache. He just stood with a smile almost like he was proud. I turned to my brother quickly, but he didn’t seem bothered. That’s because he didn’t see the man.

One night my brother and I began to talk, the conversation ended up on discussing the house. He became very worried; his face was filled with concern. He then shook his head and said, “I think the house is haunted.” I nodded and agreed which seemed to take his concern away. He ended up telling me what he saw in the attic. He saw a woman crawl with her legs completely straight being dragged behind. Apparently, her body was nearly on the ground, which I still have trouble to imagine. He said she had the dark long hair as well and her skin was white. Even now, just thinking about that conversation with my brother scares me and gives me chills. He told me he would sometimes wake up to the attic door (which was in his real bedroom) would be open. We ended up telling my mom in a very calm way. We only told her about me seeing the old man smiling, and the woman dragging her legs. Anything else would have been too frightening for her.

As the year went on, little things were happening; things would be missing, and show up nearly a week later, in the bathroom the taps would turn on, and of course I and my brother would hear sliding above our rooms. We passed them all off as forgetting and blaming it on squirrels and raccoons.

It wasn’t until about the sixth or seventh month things got really bad. My mom was sleeping and my brother was sleeping at our cousin’s house. I was just about asleep when suddenly there was a loud bang coming from the attic. I jumped up and somehow built up enough courage to turn my light on. My mom then yelled, “Was that you?” she came down the hallway surprised to see me sitting up. I shook my head, and then there was another. She asked me what it was and I shrugged. I could feel my eyes bug out as I realised the banging was between my room and my mom’s. Regardless of age and maturity, I was seventeen and gladly jumped into my mom’s bed after asking to sleep in her room. She went to the washroom and I was left in her bedroom alone. I sat there hoping nothing more would happen. Before she came back to the bedroom, there was another noise. It sounded as if someone fell down the stairs. I ended up looking down them to make sure it wasn’t my mom. There was nothing there. My mom then came out of the bathroom. That night ended with me looking up and seeing the woman standing at the side of the bed hunched over looking at me.

The last time something like that happened, it was about a week later. My brother and I were sleeping and we both woke up to stomping in the hallway. It would stomp from his door to mine and back. He hollered to me asking if I was doing it, and I said in a shaky voice that I didn’t know what it was. Eventually it stopped, and in the morning, we told our mom who claimed she didn’t hear it.

Now here is a very silly thing to do: when you think your house is haunted, and you’re pretty sure the entities aren’t exactly friendly, you decide to have your own little séance. My brother, our cousin and I did exactly that. We sat in the living room and lit a tea light candle in the darkness. I was very reluctant with the whole idea, but I still participated. When my brother asked ‘it’ to do something, we all laughed nervously. Once we relaxed, my brother’s faced showed his terror as we sat in the circle. I then saw a shadow move across the room. When I turned around, my mom’s bedroom door was closed. My brother said that the shadow went into her room. I opened the door and everything was fine. She was still asleep. I placed a book in front of the door to use as a weight to hold it open. Our cousin then said he was done.

Other than the occasional banging and the sudden rush of panic, nothing has happened since. Everything seemed to calm down after we got a cat… perhaps the ancient Egyptians were right about cats being the keepers of the underworld.

"Apartment Ghost"

by: Stephen
[Ottawa, Ontario]
Received: Nov 3, 2011

A friend of mine over 30 years ago told me about an incident in her apartment. She moved into an apartment in the downtown area and was still in the process of meeting neighbours. One day while she was home, an ashtray on the end table flipped off the table on its own and shattered on the floor. She thought nothing of it at the time other than a strong breeze causing it to come off the table. A few days later another ashtray fell off a shelf and broke. This happened several more times. She was telling this story to someone one day on the elevator and was told that someone had died in a fire in her apartment due to a cigarette.

"There's a Man at the Foot of the Bed"

by: James
[Hammertown, Ontario]
Received: Nov 1, 2011

I grew up on a farm, owned by my family for generations. Family members from past generations have been born and have died in the house that I lived in. So, I always knew they were probably still there. The most amazing evidence of this came one night, as a teenager, while I was working on my computer on the ground floor in the dining room with the door closed. The door opens to the kitchen. This room was once a parlour. It was late at night and I was alone. As I was working, I heard someone pushing one of the kitchen chairs on the other side of the door. Since everyone else had gone to bed upstairs long before, this definitely freaked me out. I went to the door and opened it and on the other side of the door, was the kitchen chair. It was propped up against the door under the knob, as if to keep it from opening outward. Of course, the door actually opens inwards, so it didn't prevent me from opening it. I learned later that when the room was a parlour, ages ago, the door used to open outwards.

One other night, my girlfriend at the time was sleeping in my bed with me on the top floor of the house, with the door closed. It was again late at night and everyone was asleep. Suddenly, I was awakened by her screaming "there's a man at the foot of the bed!!" I got out of bed, walked right past the foot of the bed to the light switch and turned it on. Nobody was there and the door was still closed. This actually corresponds to another experience. I was in the same room, asleep by myself. The door was closed. Suddenly, someone began banging on the door, violently. It seemd the door was going to come off the hinges any momoent. I got up and opened the door, thinking it was my dad and something was wrong. Nobody was there and I could hear dad snoring away in his room across the hall. Again, this relates to a story a farm hand told me. He occasionally slept on the couch in the living room. Very early one morning, around milking time, he was awakened by an old man shaking him. He opened his eyes and saw the old man who told him to get up right away and go out to the barn. He said the old man looked like my grandfather. My grandfather, however, was retired and lived in the house on the hill in front of ours. Apparently, the man simply disappeared as the farm hand sat up on the couch and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.

All of these experiences can be attributed to my great-grandfather who was known for being up long before dawn to go out and do the chores. I'm not sure why he would try to lock me in the dining room though, but I'm sure he was banging on my door to get me up to go out to the barn, just as he did to the farm hand.

After these expriences, I know for certain that there are just things going on in this world that we will never comprehend.

"Hauntings on Queen St West"

by: Jeremy
[Toronto, Ontario]
Received: Oct 31, 2011

I live in an apartment on Queen Street West, in one of those terribly old buildings. It's a beautiful apartment, with tons of 1900s-era charm, high ceilings, original mouldings, etc. From the outside you can see the scars of old windows and doorways, and what the alley behind the strip of buildings used to be like, the old shop windows, etc. Great history and beautiful architecture. Let me be clear from the get-go, I am NOT a believer in ghosts, but the events that I've witnessed in and around this apartment, I cannot explain.

One specific event happened one morning, I walked by our extremely skinny kitchen and heard a smash behind me. I looked into the kitchen and found a plate smashed on the floor. I was weirded out because the previous night I had done the dishes and put them all away. I didn't recall leaving any out, but figured I must have forgotten one. My girlfriend was still in bed and both her cats were in her bed too, sleeping. I thought the plate might have slipped off the counter, but then I saw a dent mark in the floor mat in the kitchen. The dent was in the dead center of the kitchen, as if someone had stood with the plate and dropped it from a standing position. If it had slipped off the counter, the dent would have been closer to the counter. And what are the odds this would happen as I walked by?

I also cannot, for the life of me, cannot feel comfortable in the back yard (that used to be a main street just north of Queen). I smoke out there at night - and 90% of the time I feel like I'm being watched. There are creepy noises all the time. Rustling when there is no wind - and branches cracking after I had just cleaned them up. The feeling is unbearable sometimes and I have to put out my smoke and sit in silence to wait for it to go away.

Things are constantly going missing in the apartment, and when we give up the search and forget about them, they re-appear a few weeks later in an obvious spot. Lightbulbs will simply not last more than a couple weeks - constantly burning out and needing replacement. Considering others' stories, I suppose we're getting off quite lightly.

TONS of history in these old Queen Street buildings, apparantly some of it still remains...

"There is a ghost in the corner of the room"

by: Liz
[Regina, Saskatchewan]
Received: Oct 20, 2011

My story is not really experiencing a ghost, but more of just what happened to me in my sleep. My great-grandpa died on New Years eve in 2006. The next day on January 1st 2007 we drove to Alberta to start preparing for the funeral. That night when we arrived there my family and I had to sleep in the house were both my grandparents lived in (he didn't die in the house though). That night my mom and my aunt were sleeping on the floor in the living room on the blow-up bed, and I was on the couch next to both of them. As soon as I shut my eyes I fell asleep instantly. All I remember after that was falling towards a light and I was clinically dead. I could see myself falling towards this light and as I got closer and closer I could hear someone calling my name over and over about 6 times. And as I heard my name clearer the 4th time I kept telliing myself I had to wake up because I knew what was happening to me. I could feel my mom shaking me saying my name and to wake up, and she went to the point were she slapped me across the face and that's when I woke up. When I came concious again I looked at my mom holding my shoulders and I was sitting up-right and all I said was "what are you doing?". And she told me I was breathing really heavily then all the sudden I stopped breathing and she couldn't get me back for about 5 minutes. After that I got a drink of water and I looked into the mirrior and I was so blue and purple from not breathing for 5 minutes. I eneded up loosing 10 pounds within that 5 minutes I was gone. And after that, and to this day, I have been having trouble sleeping. I think it was just my grandpa wanting to see me again because he never got to see me right before he died.

On the other hand my aunt see's ghosts all the time and tells me she only sees them through reflections and one of them is my grandpa... She had actually got a meduim come to her place and do a recording of what she was experiencing and you can see orbs fly around everywhere in this dvd. I still have this dvd and its creepy.

Another story is when my mom, sister, brother and I went to our family reunion in 2008. We were in a hotel and she fell asleep in the bed with my brother and I fell asleep in the bed with my little sister. I remember my mom waking me up at 2 am asking me where my sister was. I look over and I said "she is right beside me", and she looked over me and said "no she is not". I said "yes she is, now go to bed". She layed back down and went to bed. She again woke up and said my name again. At that point I was annoyed. This time she turned on the lamp, and her eyes were wide open and she was sitting straight up. She said to me "there is a ghost in the corner of the room". I didn't want to look. I put the covers right over my head and said "no there isn't GO TO BED!" And she said "yes there is". I couldn't help but to bury myself in the blankets and hope that whatever my mom saw would go away.

"Dancing Shadow Man"

by: Mel
[Ottawa, Ontario]
Received: Oct 12, 2011

It is a known fact that children are more in touch with the spirit world than adults. When I was five years old, I lived in an old house on Gladstone Avenue in Ottawa. As a child, I had several experiences in that house, and one sticks out in my mind as being particularly peculiar.

It was a hot and sticky summer night when my sister and I decided to sleep in the living room. Our bedrooms were as hot as saunas, and it was too hot to sleep upstairs. This was nothing unusual, and we always had fun sleeping downstairs, so we didn't think twice. On this evening though, something was different, it was quiet and particularly...dark. As I lay my head down on the pillow on the couch, my sister turned off the television, and it was lights out. I began to drift off into an uncomfortable sleep when a bright light caused me to open my eyes. I looked to the big white wall directly across from me and I could see a sort of spotlight encompassing the wall. To my horror, a shadow of a man appeared in the centre of the spotlight and began to move around in an other-worldly sort of dance. The shadow was large, and the thing I remember most, probably because it was the scariest part, was the movement of this dancing shadow was something I had never seen before, as though it was a mixture of fast forward and slow motion. My immediate reaction to this vision from beyond was to cry out for my sister, and when I did, she awoke and saw the exact same thing. We both began to cry out loud and just like that, it was gone.

In talking with my sister after the event, she described the same ghostly shadow of a man, and the same time-defying movements and dance. This is just one experience that I've had in that house.

"Kitchener Ghost Walk"

by: Mr. Larocque
[Kitchener, Ontario]
Received: Oct 10, 2011

We are a Ghost Walk Team here in Kitchener and there is one area that we do also with Private Walk. When we do take people out to this one area we always get a very good Haunting.

Once during a Private walk we took a group out and told them about the Church and with the little boy that passed away. We were walking down the hill when one of the guests stopped and looked back after hearing a noise. They saw the little boy walking near the Church and only two people saw him.

After this area we then took people to an Old Mill and we played a trigger object, we waited around for a bit then left. One of our team member's had a pack of smokes in his jacket but when we went to the final location his smokes where missing. We went back and they were found in the old Stone wall.

A couple of walks we have had spirit Mist with a face in it. Also we got the 2nd owners that still haunt the grounds in a photo. We have had the photo looked at and they say it's a real photo of the spirits.

So if you ever come up to Kitchener in the summer time look up Kitchener Ghost Walk. Who knows what you might get or happen to you....

"Thuds Upstairs"

by: Gregory
[St. Catharines, Ontario]
Received: Oct 9, 2011

I was with a group of friends at our friend's grandparents' house. We were all in the basement watching a movie. My friend's grandparents where not home, they had went out for the day. With everyone in the basement we began to hear a loud thud coming from up stairs. It hadn't started loud but soon it sounded like there was someone walking around up stairs. The group of us walked up stairs to find nothing odd except for the fact that the bathroom door was locked, and could only be locked from the inside. With no one other than us being there we found this really creepy. Suddenly without warning the door flew open. Now we where all scared out of our minds. My friend Shawna began acting rather weird and grabbed a knife in her state of fear. Not long after we had went back down stairs and heard the thuds again, this time louder. Shawna began to rock back and forth with the knife in her hand screaming leave me alone. Soon after the thuds stopped. As far as I know this is the only time this has happened.

"Heavy Footsteps Descending the Stairway"

by: Louise
[Victoria, British Columbia]
Received: Oct 6, 2011

In 1988, my husband and I bought an old character house in Victoria, in a neighbourhood with much newer homes, but we fell in love with the old time home built in 1914. My neighbor, kitty-corner to my home, was an elderly lady who dropped by one day to introduce herself. She told me she had grown up in our house, and that it had years before burned down, killing a small boy and his father. Two years later (1914) the house was re-built, and that is when my neighbour lived there as a young child. I was fascinated by learning this history of my much treasured home.

One evening, my husband went out with his friends, so I was home to watch the children. My eldest son, Robbie, was about three years old, and his brother Nicholas about 16 months of age. They shared a bedroom upstairs in a converted attic, made into a lovely bedroom. There was a set of fairly steep wooden stairs that led to their room. One night, as I sat alone, and the boys were asleep in their beds, I heard loud, heavy footsteps descending the stairway. I called out to Robbie to get back to bed. There was no reply. So I went to the stairway, and saw no one. I went upstairs and both boys were fast asleep. This happened a few times. And one night I heard my husband call out to Robbie, to get back to bed. The boys again, were fast asleep, and this time my husband heard the loud, slow moving footsteps come down the stairway.

Eventually, we sold the house, and years later, I went to the house, and knocked on the door. I introduced myself to the new owners, and the woman was holding a small baby in her arms. I asked her if she had ever experienced unexplainable sounds in the house, and she quickly called to her husband, and invited me in. They both shared with me the strange going ons in the house, and also the footsteps coming down that stairway. I truly believe it is the boy and his father who were burned to death back in 1912 in this old house. I have since lived in two other homes, and never experienced anything like this again.

"Little Brother"

by: Kaitlyn
[London, Ontario]
Received: Oct 5, 2011

My story begins at my old house, this house was over 100 years old. And when my parents had gone to get the history of the house to get their house plaque, they found out that our house had belonged to a pediatrician. This information was all found out years after my ghost experience, but it is very relevant to my story.

I am 19 years old now, but at the time I was in grade 4, so around the age of 10. My room was in the basement. It was late at night, I was up because I love to read before I go to sleep. I heard footsteps and rushed to turn off the light in my room, thinking that it was my parents coming to check up on us. I waited for my parents to come down the stairs so that I could close my eyes and pretend to sleep. But instead I saw a small boy in pajamas carrying a blankie start to crawl up the stairs. I thought that it was my younger brother who was 6 years old, because he never went anywhere without his blankie. A couple minutes later, he disappeared at the top of the stairs and I decided that it was time to go to sleep because I was starting to feel tired. Just as I closed my eyes I felt something watching me and opened my eyes to see my other younger brother, age 8, standing in my doorway looking terrified. He asked me if I had seen the little boy crawling up the stairs. I of course said yes, and that it was our other brother. He shook his head, eyes wide and skin pale. He then told me that he was still sleeping in his bed beside him. I immediately felt goosebumps on my arms and a shiver up my spine. My brother ran up to my bed and we slept together that night, both not sleeping and thinking of the small ghost boy who had crawled up the stairs. Of course when we told our parents that morning, they did not believe us. And to this day we still tell that story like it happened yesterday. How can two people see the exact same thing?

"The Day Came Back"

by: Trevor
[Lloydminster, Saskatchewan]
Received: Sept 28, 2011

My brother died in Sept./09 of a drowning accident. At a different funeral (Catholic) for my friend 1 year earlier, the priest talked about purgatory, a place that a soul goes to for an allotted time allowing for prayers to be said to allow the soul into Heaven. The priest explained it as if the person is in a room with a door that has no knob and can't be opened from their end, but that person can hear all of us as if we are in the next room.

Anyway, back to my brother. It was about 2 weeks after he passed that this happened. I had the T.V. on, and my laptop sitting next to the T.V. opened and turned on, but on the desktop page. I did not have the internet open at this time. Then for no reason at all my laptop screen started to flicker, not on and off but more like the screen was going fat then skinny. Then the internet popped up. My homepage is Facebook, but the internet didn't go to Facebook but to Google, and immediately words appeared in the search bar. It wasn't as if someone typed them out letter for letter, but rather had copied the words from somewhere and pasted them into the Google search bar because the whole phrase appeared instantly.

"The day came back" is what it said. I took that as my brother telling me that he has made it through where ever he had been to that point and made it to Heaven.

"Eye Of The Needle"
eye of the needle by: Trevor
[Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan]
Received: Sept 27, 2011

My friend and I were at his farm about 10-15 min south of town on a winter night in 2001. He was laying on the couch and I was laying on a mattress we put on the floor. It was just him and I there. His house has a driveway that comes in, wraps around his house and connects to itself again; basically it looks like his house is in the eye of a needle.

Anyway, we were laying talking and we heard a vehicle come in. We didn't hear an engine, but knew it was a vehicle because it sounded like a horse trailer being pulled. It sounded like the truck was driving 100 km/hr because the noises that the "trailer" made were very aggressive and loud. We went outside to see if someone needed something, because his dad runs a business out of their quanset. When we got outside there was no one there. We grabbed flashlights and walked the distance of the driveway.... no tracks. It had snowed earlier that evening so my tracks were pretty covered and there was no fresh tracks to be found. Where we were in the house had no windows pointing toward the driveway, so we didn't see anyone come in. That said, with the windows pointing to the other side of the "eye of the needle" driveway, we didn't see anyone coming out either.

Absolutely no explanation for this event. We both heard it, and we both investigated outside. Creepy.

"Something Takes A Shower"

by: Megan
[Golden, British Columbia]
Received: Sept 22, 2011

I live out in Parson and I was home with my sister Ashley. My mom was out for tea with a friend just down the street. It was about 9:30 and Ashley was downstairs sleeping. I was up in my room just laying there, all lights were out. It was dark. I heard a noise that sounded like someone falling down the stairs, I got out of bed frightened. I looked, nothing was there, all the animals were outside and Ashley was fast asleep. I turned out the light and went back to bed. And the hallway light turned on and off, it did this for about a minute. My mom came home and she went straight to bed thinking that me and my sister where fast asleep. And then I heard footsteps going down the stairs and into the bathroom and the shower turned on. I went out of my room and called for my mom. She was down the hall, getting ready for bed. I went downstairs and turned off the shower, after that I slept out in the camper for about 2 weeks I was so scared.

"Breathing Next To Me"

by: Sammie
[Chilliwack, British Columbia]
Received: Sept 19, 2011

This one my sisters told me about. When I was born my family lived in an old house near Chilliwack Mountain. The family was in the livingroom, some of the girls were out with friends. So no one was upstairs. They heard someone walking from room to room and then down the stairs. One day when one of my sister's was home alone she walked out of her bedroom and down the hall. She could hear someone walking behind her, she freaked out and ran downstairs and again heard someone walking from room to room then down the stairs again. Mom and Dad moved before I was a year old. Years later I was told that mom and dad found human bones where they were digging to plant Mom's garden.

I was about 5, maybe 6, when we moved into a four bedroom house near the highway. I remember very clearly not liking being in the basement alone. I always felt like someone was watching me. I was playing with the ping pong table in the basement when Mom went upstairs. I got very scared and started to run up the stairs, and the door at the top just slammed shut and I could hear breathing next to me. I started to scream and Mom couldn't open the door right away. I never went back down there. But Mom had gone down to get something from the pantry. While she was in there she felt a hot breath on her neck and thought it was my sister so she turned around to tell her to stop being a brat, and there was no one there. Mom felt something brush against her, that's when she panicked and ran upstairs slamming the door. We moved shortly after that. We had a couple German Shepherds and a Doberman at the time, and they were sometimes scared to go down there. They would stand at the top by the door and whimper or bark like crazy.

"We Are Not Alone"

by: Pat
[Port Perry, Ontario]
Received: Sept 18, 2011

My husband was killed in a car accident in 1994. I have 2 children, one son and a daughter. When he died I still could hear him open up a can of pop, or the smell of Garcia Vegas in our pool area. But some time later when that faded I have had a few incidents that have made the hair on the back of my neck rise. At that time we lived in the country. It wasn't an old home. I would think someone was coming up to the living room, and see a shadow pass a picture that was in my view but no one was home but me. The stereo would turn on in the middle of the night and could not get it shut off unless we unplugged it. I was in Florida vacationing and my son called me at 0500hr one morning freaked out that the stereo did that to him also and he felt a change within himself. I sold the home 10 years later and had moved to another city.

It just happened that my son was killed in exactly the same way my husband was killed. I had a lady come to my home because she was a whisperer (medium?) When she came in she froze and said there were 2 men surrounding my Granddaughter. She had no idea I had lost my husband or my son. My daughter-in-law came in a few minutes later and started walking to where we were standing, and this lady told me she was sorry about my son, and that he had a headache. My daughter-in-law fainted. I had a closed casket because his scalp was missing on the side of his head, no one saw this except me and my daughter-in-law. It turns out the 2 men she had seen with my granddaughter was my son and his father, at least we assume.

These incidents still go on and I have moved for the third time. I find this comforting to know we may not be alone on this Earth.

"Climbing After Us"

by: Rose
[Tecumseh, Ontario]
Received: Sept 14, 2011

When I was younger I went to visit my twin cousins that were the same age as me. My mom was babysitting them and we were eating lunch at the table. One of the twins finished eating and we went downstairs into their basement. We were attempting to read a book, when all of a sudden I heard a noise from the left of the sitting room when this figure floated by, but it was moving like it was running. Its feet weren't on the ground and it was see-through but solid edges. It looked as if there was liquid in it. Like when the light shines on a pool and you get a reflection on the side, that was what was in this figure. By this tme she looked up as well and we both watched as it went inside the laundry room. We were so scared we were frozen, and it looked back around the corner at us almost to see if we saw it. Then it started creeping around the corner and we bolted for the stairs. It followed us, gaining room between us and it, and we were screaming and running as fast as we could. When we got about half-way up we looked back to see it climbing after us. And we got stuck in the doorway because we both were trying to get out at once as this thing was following us, almost directly behind us now. We were screaming and what seemed like forever my Mom and my cousin's sister came running and asked us what was wrong. As soon as they came up to us we fit out the door and when we looked back the thing was gone.

After that day I was scared of ever going back there, and they were scared to live there. They have moved out of that house since then and live with their parents at a different house. At my house that I live at with my Mom, wierd things happen like banging beside my bed, faucets turning on by themselves, lights flickering, and footsteps in the hall outside my room. My mom claims to not know what I'm talking about, but I think whatever was in that house had followed me back to mine and is still here. Sometimes I can feel something looking at me and things have moved in my room like a bag being thrown at my back when I'm on the computer or scratching above my head on the wall when I sleep. Just writing about this now creeps me out and I'm older now. I can safely say that moment in that basement was the scariest moment of my life.

"The Shadow Of The Man In The Window"

Received: Sept 9, 2011

When I was 9 years old, there was a house at the end of our street. I never knew the man that lived there but apparently he died. The house was abandoned, so no one lived there since the man's passing. My best friend lived right across from the house.

One day me and my friend we're walking past the house when out of the corner of my eye, I seen a shadow of a man walking around the inside of the house. I told her about it and she looked, nothing was there. She then looked a minute later and seen the same thing. We just ignored it.

A week later, me and two of my friends saw the shadow again. We decided to look around to see if there was anyone there. I looked around the front, one friend looked around the back, and the other friend looked facing the end of the street. We didn't see anyone outside.

A few days later, me and my dad were outside and my dad was talking to one of the neighbors. I kept staring at the house, so my Dad looked to see what I was looking at. He watched for a minute, then looked at the neighbor and said "It looks like someone is walking around". The neighbor looked and agreed. We went back home for dinner. Almost everyone that looked into the window saw the shadow. The house was demolished a year later and a new house was built. Some neighbors believed that it was the ghost of the man that lived there.

"Scratches On Her Neck"

It was my second year of college in Hamilton and I was dating a girl that had a friend living in a basement apartment of a three story house. For months, she had been telling me various stories about strange things happening at the house when she would visit. I thought she was crazy. Eventually she convinced me to come with her one day to see for myself. I did not believe in ghosts or spirits at the time, but my opinion quickly changed after the events that happened that day.

We went down to the basement and sat on a futon made in its couch position with the back up against a fake wood panelled wall. We were looking towards the door of the basement room, and we started to see a light fade in and out again. This repeated several times. I was intrigued but not frightened. We turned the lights on to chat and discuss what we saw.

Next, with the lights off and looking in the same direction from the futon couch nothing happened for some time. Suddenly, a large bang occured next to my head as if something had been "thrown" against the wood panelling behind me. We were the only ones there, and it was clearly no one that had been sitting on the futon that threw it. We quickly turned on the light. I had to crawl under the couch to find what had been thrown. It was actually a dresser drawer knob that had been unscrewed from the dresser and deliberately thrown at us - but what seemed to intentionally miss us in what was like a playful act?

We again shut the lights off. This time, an object was lightly dropped on my GF's lap while we sat on the futon. With the lights on, it turned out to be a pocket knife that was sitting on the bedside table. Also, several pennies had been lined up along the top wood molding where the ceiling met the wall.

We shut the lights off once more. After some time, we heard a large "BANG" on the ceiling. We turned the light on and found that the TV remote had been taken off the dresser and thrown towards the ceiling with a fair bit of force! After that, we decided to give it a break for the night.

I had left, but my GF decided to spend the night with her friend as she was fairly freaked out by now. After they went to bed, my GF woke up early in the morning with a terrible stomach ache and went to the bathroom to be sick (at both ends). She ended up sleeping on the floor in the bathroom the rest of the night as she did not feel well. When she awoke in the morning, she went back to the bedroom and found all the pictures her friend had kept under the bed strewn across the floor. While they were cleaning up the pictures they found some had small "scratch" marks on them that almost looked like over developed film; however, the doubles were fine. Also, her friend that had stayed in the futon bed all night had some small scratches on her neck that almost looked like a burn.

I never had a chance to go back to this house, but continued to hear stories until she eventually moved out. Very strange, and changed my skeptical few on ghosts forever. I never really tell anybody this story because - who would believe me?

"Followed By A Ghost"

The first time I have ever seen something that could not be explained except as "a black shadowy figure" was when my sister and I were at the ages of 5 and 8. It was our first house since moving out of my grandmother's. In the summer, the house would get so hot upstairs that we had to sleep in the basement. My parents would sleep on the pull out couch, my younger sister and I would sleep on the twin mattresses that were beside the couch. My parents had enough of sleeping in the basement and it was our last night to sleep in the basement. Out of nowhere in the middle of the night everything was off, the tv was off, the lights were off, and my sister was sleeping on the right side of me towards the tv that was against one wall. That was until she woke me up and where I was sleeping she pointed to the left corner on my side and showed me that there was something sitting on the chair underneath the window. I looked and I seen this black shadowy figure just sitting there and wouldn't move. My sister and I both hid under the blanket and yelled, calling for my mom and dad but they didn't hear us from upstairs. When I looked out towards where the black shadowy figure was, it was gone. So we just hid under the blanket and fell back asleep. The next morning we both look towards the window and there is nothing there that could have been seen like that, no coats, blankets or anything hanging. To this day we still don't know what that could have been, or why my sister just woke up scared out of nowhere in the middle of the night and seen that.

In 2005 my grandmother passed away, so we pack up, move back to her house and lived there. When my parents went out for a while, my sister and I decided to watch a movie. We had one lamp on and everything else was off. Out of nowhere the tv shut off on its own, the remote was on the table and we definitely did not turn it off. We were so creeped out, we turned the tv back on then we hear the radio turn on in the kitchen. We both run in and turn it off. We sort of thought maybe it was our grandmother showing us that she was with us. Who knows, but that's what I like to think of it as.

While living there, again in the middle of the night I woke up to a weird feeling yet not being able to move, open my eyes or say anything. I was so scared, I wanted to cry. I felt my eyes tear up but still couldn't do anything. A few mins later I was able to move, I sat up and moved around and felt some relief but with a little bit of fear. A feeling I never ever wanted to feel again.

In 2010 I was lying in bed and my daughter, a few months old, was in her room sleeping and my boyfriend was in the kitchen feeding the dog outside the door. All of a sudden I seen this black shadow, like someone walked into the room. That definitely was not possible because it was just my boyfriend, my daughter and I at home. I was in shock, I called to my boyfriend and told him I seen this shadow as if someone just walked in and he was a bit freaked out. We were both in the bedroom and all of a sudden you hear something bang on the floor. We both walk out, looking in the bathroom since that's what it sounded like. It sounded as if my daughter's bathtub fell down but it was already on the floor. We look towards the front door and her carseat part was on the floor. We were definitely freaked out because it's been up there for so long, it's odd to see it fall like that.

These are some of the experiences I have been through since seeing it for the first time. I definitely do believe there is something else other than humans out there. Since then I haven't experienced anything but do have this feeling of always being watched.

"Phantom Footsteps"

I'm 19 now, and this happened a few years ago. All my life I never did believe in ghosts and stuff, like paranormal. This happened in Sandy Bay when I was visiting for the holidays. I was visiting a girl, with her brother and mother. The brother and mother had went for a walk to pick up a few things, and it is a spread out reservation so it was going to be awhile. Me and the girl just chilled out. They had no tv, no heat, so there was pretty much nothing to do, we just sat on the couch talking. Then we were interrupted by a loud footstep from the basement and we were silenced. I admit I was scared cause this was like the first thing that ever happened to me. But as we continued to listen, it came up a flock of stairs of 5, and there was another flock of stairs of 5. It sounded like this noise was wearing steeltoe boots and sounded like a heavy set. But when it came up the second flock, we both got that feeling like we weren't alone, like you know that feeling when you feel like someones watching, and you just got to look around. Well anyways, we stared towards the top of the stairs. We could feel it, we couldn't see it. We could hear the footsteps proceed to the bedroom and I remember asking her "please tell me i'm not hearing things, please tell me you hear those too". She replied "you're not hearing things, I heard it too. It's probably my grandpa who had a heart attack in this house 5 years ago and died". After I was told that I was pretty scared, and those footsteps came out to the kitchen, and they stopped. I said "well I'm gonna go, I'm tripped out. Are you gonna be alright?" She replied "yeah, I'm use to it. I hear it all the time". I went towards the door and she said "don't leave". So I just brought her with me. I'll never forget that though. I'm always skeptical about these things, but I believed that.

It was late at night, and I had just went up to my room. I felt a little weird that night, but I didn't think much of it. I quickly fell asleep, but was woken up shortly after by the sound of someone whimpering. I was the only one in the house at the time, and I had no pets at the time being. I was frightened, but made myself fall back asleep. I do believe it was a couple hours later when I was woken up again. But this time, no one was whimpering. It felt like someone or something was face to face with me. Breathing on me, staring at me. I couldn't move, nor could I see what this thing was. This lasted for about two minutes, then I could move and the feeling of someone being close to my face was gone. I do not know what this means, and since then I can't really sleep. I'm afraid this could be something more than just a ghost.

"Praying For The Dead"

by: Debbie
[Ottawa, Ontario]
Received: July 22, 2011

My brother-in-law (I will call him Mike) had sadly commited suicide the year my daughter was born and it devastated the family. Apart from his troubled life with the law as well as drug and alcohol problems no one knew that he was planning to take his own life. I remember feeling like I was being followed or bugged after he died. I don't know how to explain it I just felt an urgency in energy around me and my family and I was very sad as I believe that if you commit suicide you go to hell. Days after his death I had the same strange repetative dream identical, accept for one slight part of the dream each night. The dream would start out with all the family laughing and having breakfast at a quaint small family dinner somewhere, it was a beautiful sunny day and we were all happy, just really enjoying each others company. Suddenly the old copper bell affixed to the top of the old wooden dinner door would ring as the door to the diner would open, letting the waitress and cooks know that another customer has entered. Then suddenly there he was, my brother-in-law, he had on a white t-shirt and blue jeans and his burgandy leather coat, he looked freshly groomed. The strange thing was that he was leaning on a wooden crutch and was missing a foot. He sat down beside me in the booth on the big padded red seat like it was nothing. I looked at him in shock and said "Mike what are you doing here you're dead?" He simply laughed and said "well, I'm here to help with the destruction of the universe". Then the dream would fade out and I would wake up.

The same thing would occur the following night except this time he was missing his whole leg, and so on each night a body part was missing - it was really bizzare - until all he had was one leg and half an arm left. And each time I said to him, "Mike what are you doing here, you're dead", then he would laugh slightly and say "I am here to help in the destruction of the universe". I had those dreams for about a week and then they had stopped. When I told my family, not my husband as I did not want him to hurt any more than he did, everyone kept telling me it was just a dream but I knew it was more then that. I felt as though he was trying to tell me something, or at least trying very hard to get my attention.

Shortly after, we moved out of our little one bedroom basement apartment and moved closer to my parents' in the east end of Ottawa in a small little 2 bedroom apartment so that the baby could have her own room. My husband and I were still going through all the emotions of dealing with what had happened to his brother, it was a very difficult time for all of us trying to get over what had happened. One night when I had just started to drift off to sleep I had an experience that I will never ever, ever forget. I will carry it with me for the rest of my life as it truly frightened me. As I was saying earlier, it was a cold winters night and I had just drifted off to sleep, yet I remember my husband getting into bed beside me. I remember becoming aware of him but I guess I was just no longer fully awake. I remember fluttering my eyes to see my husband briefly then that was it. Then I remember being somehow awakened and I became aware like I was interacting but still in a state of sleep but not alseep, it's hard to explain. I remember turning my head slightly to the left to see the light of the bedroom window, then darkness enveloped all the light that there was. I sensed fear but there was nothing I could do. I felt frozen and half awake but aware of what was happening. I looked up and remember feeling and being engulfed in total and utter darkness. This darkness took form over my sleeping body, almost like someone was floating directly above me but it was this dark black thick despair, it's the only way I can describe it in words. I cannot explain how dark and lonely this darkness felt and appeared to be. It filled up the space above me in bed, like it hovered above me, looking at me trying to get me to react. Then the mass of darkness floating above me suddenly emitted a funnel, and whatever it was had blown breath down into my face. The breath or whatever it was went straight into my face and into my mouth and when that happened I was more aware and frightened and I felt myself beginning to gag from what my senses had been forced to endure. I was now very aware and terrified and realized I was alone. My husband was not there beside me. I felt panic and fear of the unknown and I suddenly gave into my gag reflex trying to find a breath of clean fresh air as whatever had blown into my face was so vivid and putrid and was making me violently ill from the smell. It was like someone had breathed into my face who smelled like an ashtray or who had just smoked 3 packs of cigarettes and drank so much booze that they bathed in it. It was so strong that I will never forget how my senses were in shock from the sheer strength of the smells and scent I was being forced to endure from the darkness above me. But I somehow knew who it was even though I could only see the darkness that enveloped me, I knew it was Mike. It was like he was saying it's me I am here and I need your help, you know that I'm in hell.

I finally gathered up enough courage and bolted straight up out of bed and ran out into the living room where I found my husband sitting watching tv in the dark. You're brother is in the bedroom I yelled in utter fear and panic. My husband tried to calm me down but I was pretty shaken up. I told him what had just happened in the bedroom all the while pretty much in histerics of course and frightened out of my mind! My husband then admitted to me that he had not been able to sleep for weeks as he kept seeing his brother everywhere, that he was appearing to him, but as he looked when he died. After my brother-in-law appeared as he did to me, I quickly realized that his soul was crying out for help, to be saved. So I started to pray for him as I realized where his soul was and he knew that out of everyone and anyone in his immediate family that I believed in God. The strange part is, that my father and sister who never really knew my brother-in-law that well confessed that he came to visit them as well and they too realized that he needed all the prayers possible to help him get out from where he was. This experience will stick with me forever, I will never ever forget it, and boy did I pray for him and ask God to forgive him. Suddenly we were no longer bothered, we knew our prayers had saved him as everytime I think of him now I see him in a glowing loving white light in a beautiful white suit smiling and waving - I feel good now knowing he's in heaven.

"Phantom Footsteps"

This happened when I was about 16 and living with my parents. I am now 21 and living elsewhere, but I remember this night like it was yesterday. We usually had weird stuff happen in our household but nothing this weird or needless to say, frightening. My friend and I were getting ready to go to sleep when all of a sudden my friend asked if I had any pets. I replied "no" and asked if any of our neighbors had any pets. Again, I replied "no". So I asked "why?" all she said was "dont wan't to tell you anything right now, it will just scare you". At that point I was scared after she had said that, so I put a blanket over my head and went to sleep. That morning I asked why she would ask me those questions. All she said was that there was something running around outside my house, looked through my window, and ended up comming through the window right in front of her face.

Another time when I was 17 walking home from a friends house, which is about a 20 minute walk. I made it towards this dark area of the street and heard these footsteps walking behind me. I stopped and turned around only to see nothing there. I started walking faster and heard the footsteps walking faster as well. I finally made it to my driveway and ran down, only to hear the footsteps running after me. Once I made it to the doorstep I ran in. I could hear the footsteps running around my house, and heard it running up my stairs and on the porch. I left all the lights on until my parents got home and tried to go to sleep, but ended up not sleeping at all. I still hear someone running around my parents house, and up the stairs on the patio.

"Apparition Of A Boy"

Received: July 12, 2011

Way back in 2001/2002 I was dating this guy who lived with his dad at the time. Every night before bed he would shut the door to his bedroom and place a blanket/sheet and would cover the bottom of the door. I asked him why he did that and he said so he doesn't see the shadows at the bottom of his door. I didn't think anything of it at the time. We were always there alone because his father worked nightshifts. One night we both just passed out and the door was left opened. I was sleeping at the edge of the bed when I woke straight up and looked at the door and I saw a little like see-thru boy. I was so scared I didn't move. He started walking toward the stereo and the whole time I didn't take my eyes off him. At the same time my other hand was trying to wake my ex up. The "ghost" looked at me and smiled then turned the stereo up! I could see the volume numbers go higher and higher. Then my ex finally woke up out of his sleep, jumped over me and run to shut the door. He didn't even say a word, almost like he was used to it.

Weeks later, I was at my house and he called me, I wasn't supposed to sleep there but he said he was freaked out cause what just happened to him. So I went over there. As soon as I got there he told me what happened and I called my mom to tell her. As I was telling her the stereo volume went up and lights started flickering off and on. The same thing at the same time I was saying everything is happening again! My ex and I were screaming and we ran out of the house all the way to mine.

It never stoped there cause his mom lived like a house away from his dad's and when we went there even more scarier things happend anytime of day. I started asking him questions like when did this stuff start and how long had it been going on? He said his whole life since he lived there.

To this day things still happen. I'm no longer with him, but my sister has been for the last 5 years and things are just getting worse! He's the father of both my kids and they never want to sleep at his house cause they're scared. My sister has a picture of really weird things we can't explain. His house was never renovated since a fire in 1911. I think something more is in his house, if not his house with him!

My great grandfather passed away in the kitchen of my grandparents' house (this is important later), and his name is Joseph. So I was with my grandma when I was younger and she owns a ouija board. We were playing with it and she just decided she would try to sommun my great grandfather. So she yelled out "if you are here dad then please show us." We waited for about ten minutes, and nothing happened. So my grandma went into the kitchen and I stayed with my eyes fixed on the ouija board. Then I saw somthing that really surprised me. The little pointer thing moved, I screamed for my grandma. She came out and watched, keeping track of what it spelt. She told me it was nothing, but later I overheard her telling my mom that it spelt out "Joseph".

Another paranormal thing is that I was babysitting in my grandparents' neighbour's house. They have little grandchildren. Anyways, I was cooking dinner and the kids were playing in the living room. I went out to check on them and when I went back in all of the dishes were moved. I just kept going and tried not to seem scared. Then their "Tickle Me Elmo Doll" had run out of batteries so I took the old ones out and when I came back it was playing the noise and moving. It freaked me out so much I went back to my grandparents' house. When I was in their house I looked out the window and saw a man in the house the little kids lived in even though no one was home. I have not figured this out yet, but it scares me every time I baby sit them.

This happened at the airport. I just got off the plane to see my friends. There were 4 of them and I decided to take a picture of them. It was 10:00 at night and the air was clear. We were outside and away from other people. I took the picture and I noticed there were 5 people in the pic. I looked at the left side and there was a head. It was bald, pale and giving me a scary glare at me. I first thought my camera was screwed. My cousin hanged himself two days later I wonder if it was giving me a warning about something was happening.

I'm not really sure what exactly happened, I just know that I'm not crazy because I was interviewed by therapists and the like, and none of them found anything wrong with me. Anyways, onto my story. About a year and a half ago, I got up at around 3am to get a drink of water and go to the bathroom. But on my way back to my bedroom, I felt someone walking behind me, I turned my head to the side and saw a very deranged looking woman wearing a dirty nightgown and very messy hair walking behind me. I instantly freaked out and ran to my room, all the while I could see her running after me in the corner of my eye. I didn't come out again until my father got up to go to work. I insisted that he take me to my mother's because I didn't want to be in the house alone. After that, I saw her and a couple others frequently, I was sure that I was going crazy.

One day I was talking to my friend via a chatroom where you can use mics and things. And as I was talking to her, I saw an apparition in my room. These beings never talked to me, but growled, and it was doing so now. The only thing that was different, was that my friend heard it over the mic, she got so freaked out that I saw her throw her headphones off her head. I didn't tell her about the growling, but she was able to describe what she AND I heard at the same time.. I swear this is all true. And extremely spooky.

"Pick Me Up"

Received: June 16, 2011

I am the type of person who doesn't give a whole lot of thought about spirits visiting us and am really not sure even to this day if I really believe in them anyway, but this is my story.

After my wife and I had my son some strange things happened. Sometimes his toys, which were battery powered, would play sound by themselves. Not all the time but only some times and it would be more than just one toy. I didn't let this get to me and shrugged it off as the batteries must be getting low but knowing full well that they were new and it was not always the same toy like I said earlier.

The thing that really changed my opinion was when one day early in the year my wife and I, along with my son, were in the living room and we were talking as my son rode his big wheel around in circles on the floor. At one point he stopped by the doorway into the living room and looked up for a few seconds, got off his big wheel and walked a foot over to the doorway and stopped, looked up like something was there and put his arms out as if to say pick me up. My wife and I looked at each other and she looked scared and I said to her did you see that? She replied yes and we were a little freaked out. He was only 2 and a half years old at the time and had a name for the whatever he saw but I cant recall what it was as this time. But it has made me think a little more seriously about spirits and the after life.

I'm a senior living in a seniors building, this is a true story this is real. If anyone ever says there is no spirit world they better think again.. My computer is set up in the living room of the apt. Several days ago as I was typing I felt a cold breeze against my face and didn't think to much about it. Something did make me turn my head towards the main door call it instinct.. This is when I saw an apparition of a little boy crying he was standing sideways looking straight at me holding the knob of the door handle like he wanted out, the apparition lasted about 3 mins. After that the lights started flickering on & off. On another day another apparition. My bathroom is connected to my bedroom, terrified to move but had to go. My bedroom was so cold, went in the bathroom and shut the door. As soon as I opened the door to come out there she was a woman looking out the window waving then she disappeared. I took off in the living room and closed the bedroom door. Lights started flickering off & on, looking in the kitchen I noticed a mist hovering over the kitchen table. It did not take me very long to keep lights on until I seen the daylight. Through the nights I'd hear bangings, my rocking chair would move towards the window, I'd hear the kettle switch going off & on. I'd be smelling perfume or flowers. I have flowers in the kitchen, they had been touched like someone was admiring them. The lights were still on until daylight. When daylight arrived I went into the bedroom, my wall had markings in red: hush, keep Quite, Get out, a few scratches here and there, the letter M & 666. I'm in panic mode all day, after all would you not be? One thing here to note no air getting in, windows were closed. I tell you this is an unexplainable activity yet to be examined..

My husband and I along with our 3 children lived in Mississauga in the 1980's. When my son turned 13 he asked if he could move to a completed bedroom in the basement which also had an attached living room and bathroom, we consented and set up a typical boys room. Periodically my son J would return to the top level of our 2 story house stating he was scared and that he had seen an old man in his room. We never made much about this and J would come and go between the downstairs basement and his room on the second floor. One night I awoke to see a figure of a man standing at the foot of our bed with his arm resting against our dresser drawers. It took me a few seconds to adjust my vision but there was definately a figure watching us. I woke my husband who searched the house, but no one was found. A few years later we returned to my home country in Australia. We kept in contact with neighbours from Mississauga and was upset to hear of the decline in health of a young neighbour dying of Liver cancer. I had worked for a nursing home in Mississauga and was asked to return to Canada to testify about a fire in Mississauga aged care centre where I worked. I agreed to return seeing this as a time to visit my dying neighbour, unfortunately she had died and the day I arrived was her funeral. I visited another ex neighbour who still lived on the same street I lived at in Mississauga. She told how my dying neighbour often spoke of an old man who visited her. This was put down to the Morphine and at her funeral people who lived on that street recounted stories of seeing an old man from time to time. The neighbour recounting the story, had a son who had gotten a young girl pregnant. Her mother asked her to move out of the house. The young girl moved into the father's parents house and apparently would never move to the basement because she often saw an old man standing over the babies crib. We often talk about this story I can assure you I am now 57 and my mind still has a clear image of the well groomed man standing at the foot of our bed. Whether it was the same one who visited other members of our neighbours and my dying friend I don't know.

"Orbs on video?"

Received: May 23, 2011

One night at approximately 3:30a.m I was playing with my kitten in the living room. So I grabbed my cell phone and started to film him acting all funny when I noticed something go by the screen. Upon turning the camera on these "things" started to appear. I have been filming these for weeks and have caught them dozens of times on video. I don't know what I am seeing. I've shown my friends what I have on film. After they watch it they are left speechless and are spooked. I can only see them through a high resolution camera, but my cat seems to see them. Sometimes there is only a few, other times there are dozens whizzing around. Some go slow then speed up, some come directly toward me then vanish. I'm not sure that this means anything,,but I also live directly across from a very big and old cemetery. I searched the internet and found others with the eaxact things, but nothing close to the activity I have here. I was kinda freaked in the beginning, but getting used to it now.

"Entity Appearing on Webcam"

by: Liliana

Received: May 22, 2011

I had the chance to record a voice talking to me on a video call conversation that I had yesterday with a friend over the internet, we were talking normally when a distinctive third voice started to talk in the background. It sounded like roaring, screeming, and talking very angry to us. It mentioned my name, and constantly said things like "get out of here", "get out". And when I asked his name he answered "John". But what spooks me the most is that I asked "why should I leave?" and he said "kill you".

Everything started about a year ago when I decided to "play" with a type of electronic ouiji board and odd events started to happen like the faucet in the bathroom has been running full blast 3 times and 2 other people have withnessed this. Besides I live with my boyfriend and he has witnessed all these odd events like the TV, a fan and the dishwasher turning on by themselves.

As well, different people have seen on my webcam broadcastings "someone" standing behind me looking at me but I don't see no body but they do. They have described 3 different people, one a man that resembles a dead friend of mine, also a "bald" man and a woman. All the sightings are from people who are looking at my broadcast on the internet but I have never seen it myself.

"Washer and Dryer Turns On and Off"

The experience in my story happened a few years ago, but also happened again a few days ago and I can't make sense of it. I was sitting watching tv when the lights and appliances turned off at once. I mistakened it for a power outage but then appliances started turning on by itself. The tv turned on and then turned off, then the washer turned on and then turned off, the same thing happened with the dryer and the lights. It was really creepy so I walked to the front door and when the lights were going on and off it was going throughout the house. The same thing happened a few years ago and it started in the basement with the tv and the washer and dryer and the same thing with the lights going on and off throughout the house. But the difference from a few years ago til now was the evil laugh I heard when I was running out of the house in fear.

"Dark Being Exited Through Wall"

Received: May 6, 2011

This occured last September (2010). I was at my parents' home and woke up around 4am to get a drink of water. No one was there at the house but me. I could see someone or something standing in the living room, the only light source at that moment was from the laundry room. I thought that "person" was a friend or a cousin who were not far away from there. I said "what do you want?" and that "thing" just stood there silently!! I swore at that "person" and opened the light, that "dark being" quickly exited through the wall. I stayed up for the rest of the night till the morning freaked out.

Received: Apr 19, 2011

I recently had a friend that commited suicide. I had known him since grade six, I am now 35 years old. At the end of January he shot himself. Then things started happening at my home: cold spots, garage doors opening, water running from the bathroom tap, noises, remote control cars moving, music playing on my docking station that he gave me.. I am not scared now, I want to understand what is happening. I don't think I believe in ghosts, but I can not explain all of the things that are happening.

"Bright Flashes In The House"

by: Sherri
[Edmonton, Alberta]
Received: Apr 7, 2011

The newest activity in our home, where many strange things happen, have been these extreme flashes of light like a digital flash going off in your face. A couple of weeks ago my 15 year old son and I were standing in the kitchen when a bright flash went off in our faces completely blinding us and then just as instantly disappeared. I screamed like the girl I am! My son and I just stared at each other and I asked "did you see that or was it just me?" He said "oh yeah! It completely whited out the room mom!".

A couple of weeks later my 14 year old daughter complained that the flashes of light in the back hall were keeping her up all night. The newest occurance was just last night. We put our youngest son to bed in his room (also off the back hall) but when we went to get him dressed this morning he was not in his bed. We found him in his sister's bed and I carried him out to the livingroom to get dressed. He said to me that he had to go sleep with Spencer (our daughter) because he is afraid of the bright flashes in his room. He is only four years old.

Also, our pictures are removed from the walls and stacked in the bathroom when we are not home. We close our shower curtain only to find it open again a couple of minutes later, and coughing and mumbling from the master bedroom. We have a very strange house....

"I Will Kill You"

by: Jacob

Received: March 27, 2011

1972 was the year my friends where driving down a long road in Lucan Ontario. They came upon a barn. They got out of their car and thought it might be fun to throw rocks at the barn. Then a man described as short, old clothes like a Menonite, and with no eyes, came out of the barn and said something to my friend. He said it sounded like "I Will Kill You". My friends got in their car and drove back to their home in London Ontario. Two weeks later my friends went back to the barn, down the same long road and drove and drove. They reached the barn, well the barn was not there it disappeared. They made sure it was the same road, it was all the same but the barn disappeared.

The next story that happend to me was more recent. July 1st, 2010 I was at my uncle's house minding his dog in Lucan. I was on the computer, had a nice ice cold ice tea beside me which was full. Then I went to grab my pop can and then some kind of force slammed my hand down on the table and pushed my hand away. The pop can moved into several loops and stopped. I screamed and my family came to my side and said "Whats wrong are you okay!?". I explained what happened. But what I kept to myself and will release it on this day was that the full pop can when I went to pick it up after it moved in loops, was empty to the bone not a sign of liquid in it.

"Haunted Abandoned House"

by: Francisco
[Mississauga, Ontario]
Received: March 11, 2011

Well, there's this oldish abandoned house just off of Creditview Road about 15-20 min walk from where I live. Anyway, we heard from a friend that the house is haunted. Being the kids we were (we were around 17) we decided to go in there to check it out. During the day it was a little creepy. There were photos EVERYWHERE, like polaroid photos of people, places, and random stuff. But the creepiest place was the basement, it was FREEZING down there, and this was a hot august day.

About 2 weeks later my friends and I decide to go to the house at night. There were about six of us in total. As soon as I walked into that house I felt something push me back slightly. It scared me, but I kept walking. Shortly after, we were sitting on the couches when I heard a baby cry. I didn't want to sound crazy so I didn't say anything. Then my friend said "you guys hear that?" I instantly screamed out "yes! oh my god I heard it too". Right after that we started seeing this black figure floating in front of all of us making this demonic sound. We all ran out of the house, swearing and screaming. Then suddenly one of the girls trips and was being pulled back to the house, she was just at the doorstep when she tripped. So me and a friend started pulling her out, this thing was pulling hard but eventually let go. We knew this thing didn't want us in there, so we carried this girl to the nearest hospital. The bone was sticking out of her shin! That doesn't just happen from a trip. One year has gone by and I never returned to that house EVER again. Whatever was in there can stay there.

"Ouija Board"

by: Sydney

Received: Feb 27, 2011

So my sister and I were visiting my grand-parents house a couple years back. Our grand-father had died about 6 months before this occurred. So we were helping my grandma clean out his stuff from the basement. He was a huge collector, saving things from around the world and had to keep everything. While exploring the packed basement we managed to come across a Ouija Board. Not knowing exactly what it was at the time, we took it upstairs and set it on the kitchen table. My older sister told me that we were supposed to ask it questions. We asked it stupid questions like who are we gonna marry or are we going to have chocolate for dessert. Soon our grandma caught us using this game and told us it was a way to communicate with spirits. She told us to not play with it, but we didn't listen. After we asked it questions like "are spirits really real?" And stuff like that. Suddenly, the tv started flickering on and off as cupboards banged back and fourth, and lights went out. We could feel a quick breeze from behind us and footsteps but they soon vanished as grandma came up with a box of grandpa's belongings. The second she step foot on the main level, everything was fine. We still don't know what happened that day, but it still gives us chills to think about.

"Vanished Into Thin Air"

by: Clara

Received: Feb 22, 2011

I was working in this special care home in Penetang. I have a lot of stories about this house but I will just tell this one. As I was running down the basement steps to change the clients laundry over I ran smack dab into a ghost that was just coming out of the laundry room as I was going into it. This annoyed me because I was in a hurry. So I stopped and turned and said "for petes sake will you get out of my way, I'm in a hurry. So you just stay out of my way". It was like looking at smoke. But once I said that it just vanished into thin air.

Now that night I did not think any more of this encounter, and I had sleeping quarters there because I was the night staff. As I was sound asleep around 2 a.m. I heard someone say in a very loud harsh voice say "Clara". I jumped out of bed and went to the door, for I thought that one of the residents needed my help. No one was anywhere in sight. I went around and checked the whole house and every resident was in their beds asleep. So I went back to my room and lit my candle and said to whoever or whatever to leave me alone "I have to get up in a few hours and I'm going to sleep so get lost". Then I went right back to sleep until 6 a.m.

"Someone Was Holding Me Very Tight"

by: Joanne
[Beauval, Saskatchewan]
Received: Feb 10, 2011

I was asleep one day when I was in highschool. All of a sudden I had woken up, I don't recall the time, and I felt as though someone was holding me very tight and I could not move as I tried with all my strength. I was freaking out thinking in my head "what's going on?!" I then tried to scream for my dad or brother to help me, but no words came out, just whispers. This went on for a few minutes, but it seemed like forever to me. After I finally felt no pressure I got out of bed and booked it upstairs. I ended up sleeping in the living room for a couple nights. When I finally felt like it was okay to sleep back in my room, I did. I wasn't afraid because I prayed. But then I was suddenly woken up to what felt like someone punching me in the back while I was laying on my back. I swear I flew above my bed because that's how hard the punch felt. Before all this happened, my door would open on its own while closed shut. But I thought nothing of that because I did not believe in the paranormal at the time. My house has since been blessed and nothing has ever happened to me, I can't say the same for my siblings though.

"Black Shadows"

by: Laura
[Kemptville, Ontario]
Received: Feb 1, 2011

I live down a road that used to have a train station, and because my dad is obsessed with trains we got the house closest to the train tracks that are still in use. And of course our house is built on top of where the train grave yard used to be, which means hobos used to sleep and live there. Of course I haven't "seen" any ghosts, but I know that they are here, especially in my room.

Since I was about 13 years old, when I'm just about ready to fall asleep I have gotten this sweet aroma of roses. It would stick with me for about 2 minutes and then just vanish, a few times I have smelt almost a dirty campfire smell. I always imagined the rose smell was my guardian angel or something. This happens occassionaly.

When I was 10 I would play with my brand new baby sister. You know how people say babies can see ghosts, well my sister saw more. She would look around the house and start crying, she would also laugh at an empty room.

When I was 15 years old I was downstairs with my 3 year old sister watching T.V. when I heard footsteps upstairs. I knew no one was home because everyone was at work or a friend's house so I quickly rushed my sister to my room (which is also in the basement) and I hid her in the closet. I remember my mum always saying that if we think someone is in the house call the neighbours and call the parents. So I called my dad, I got my baseball bat in hand and started to open my door when I heard the foot steps above my room. When my dad got home he told me that no one was there and the door was locked. After that I kept hearing that noise, and I would see black shapes in the corner of my eye.

A few months later my 13 year old sister was at home when no one else was and she heard foot steps. She called my neighbours and they rushed over. My sister heard the footsteps in the kitchen upstairs slowly make their way down the stairs. At this point she burst out crying and thats when our neighbour bursts into the house but found no one.

Up until now I only get the rose smell when I'm falling asleep. I still see the black shadows move in the corner of my eye, but I also get as if someone is blowing on my neck, or the feeling that someone IS watching me, they're just staring at me.

"Was That Real Enough For You?"

by: Nick

Received: Feb 1, 2011

Since we first moved into this house in 2009 I've had a weird feeling like I was being watched. Eventually I started to get a little paranoied. Until one day I got fed up and decided to challenge this entity to show itself or do something to prove it was real and not just my imagination. About an hour after stating my challenge and nothing happening I decided to go to sleep. No sooner did I lay down did my head start to hurt alot and soon the pain spread thoughout my body. I remember not having control of my own limbs and somehow wandered into my mother's room where I got a look in the mirror. I was shaking and pale as death itself. Not only that but there was another person's reflection over mine. Now this is where it gets weird, all of a sudden I was back to normal and went back to my room. When I got there the entity who's reflection I saw over mine was standing in the middle of the room. He simply looked at me and said "was that real enough for you?" softly laughed to him self then vanished. I can still feel his prescence and weird stuff still goes on, but I'll never challenge an entity again.

"Old Hag Syndrome Strikes Again"

by: Rose

Received: Jan 29, 2011

I rented a home across from a graveyard. One night I was talking on my cell phone laying on the bed. I hung up and in a second the blankets started to move, and then I felt a freezing feeling coming on as did before when I was 18, I am now 55. So I knew what was coming and I thought to myself that I would hit the button on the phone for a dial tone but I froze too fast. And then came a figure so ugly, grey hair and pointed teeth like broken off and shrunken face. It was horrible looking, and it could read minds. It said to me "don't think that cell phone is going to help you" and laughed at me. It said "you're cursed" and I layed on the bed frozen. I remember I still had the phone in my hand but was frozen. I said the Lord's Prayer in my mind and it left and I was unfrozen. And then the dial tone came as my finger was released. I was not asleep I was awake, and I know this really happened by that phone.

"Entity Attacks"

by: Mike
[Johnson, Alberta]
Received: Jan 2, 2011

I never believed in ghosts until that fateful day back in 2008. It was mid-september and I was 15 years old at the time. I was alone in my house getting comfortable and started reading. Weird things started happening. The downstairs sliding door slid open and then slammed back into place and continued the process for about 10 seconds. It scared the living hell out of me. Objects started levitating and flying across the room and shapes started appearing on the walls. I thought of one way to make it stop. I yelled at the top of my lungs to get whatever it was out of my house. That is when I heard it. Everything came to a halt, but evil chuckling replaced it. The lights went out in the whole house and I saw red eyes staring at me. They seemed to be telling me that I could never escape. A light appeared in the cellar so I ran towards it. Bad idea. There was a hole in the cellar and I could here something dark and evil trying to climb out of it. The thing was talking in a dead language. It's voice was not human nor was it an animal, it just sounded like the thing was born evil. I thought I was screwed, then I looked to my left and there was salt right there. Salt is a demon's worst nightmare, I knew that much. I cut open a sack of it and threw it down the hole. I heard something scream in anguish and then everything was back to normal. I wondered if it all was just a dream. I looked down at myself and across my stomach were three cuts as if a blade sliced me three times. I hope that I never have to go through that again, I have an idea what that creature was. Even though I am not religious I think it was the Devil. Since that day I've had experiences but ones that are a lot less frightening.

"Shape of a Grown Man"

by: Madison
[Manooth, Ontario]
Received: Dec 20, 2010

I was four years old at the time and we moved into a new house. Everything was fine for a while, until maybe two months there. At night I couldn't sleep because there was always a creaking sound outside my door in the hallway, like someone was walking up and down the hallway. When I finally couldn't take it any longer, I went out there to tell my parents to be quiet cause I couldn't sleep, no one would be out there. That kinda freaked my tiny body out. I ran to my parents' room so fast that I barely noticed the cold spot in the hallway. But I did notice it. When I told my Mom everything she just took it as a bad dream and told me to go to bed. I was so frightened to walk down that hallway but I did it. There was no cold spot and no creaking but I did feel like there was a presence behind me.

After that it got worse. In the morning when I was doing nothing, my Mom would just yell at me to come there. When I did I saw crayon marks on the walls, some spelling out my name. To this day I swear I didn't do it. I also noticed that my cat, Pepper, would try to stay away from the house. He would try to run away from it, but I wouldn't let him. If I had to put up with it, so did he.

A year later, my mom decided to sell the house out of nowhere. I asked her, "Is it because of the ghost?". She said it was because her job was far away. I didn't believe her one bit. Well, when it was two days until the move, I had the weirdest dream ever. I had a dream I was going down to the basement with my blanket, which I couldn't go down at the time, since I was only five years old and my parents wouldn't let me go down there. For some reason, my cat was down there, looking totally terrified in the corner and hissing at the wall opposite of him. I looked over there and saw that there was a spot flying near the wall that was glowing a strange green colour. Then the spot grew. It grew until the glowing spot was as big as and took on the shape of a grown man. The grown-man-shaped thing was coming towards me. As it did, I heard the creaking I heard out in the hallway when I was four. I freaked out and ran up the stairs, leaving my cat and blanket behind.

The next morning I got my Dad to go down there and check it out. When he opened the door, my cat ran out of the basement, right past us to my bedroom. My dad thought it was strange, since Pepper couldn't of gotten down there because the door was shut and locked. He didn't think anything of it. I did. Well, he went down there and looked around for a bit. When he came back up he was holding my blanket. He asked me how that got down there. I told him that I didn't go down there and I told him about my dream. I guess he thought I was lying.

A little bit ago, my mother told me that we did move out of that house because of the ghost. She said that when she went to check on my sister in her crib, something wouldn't let her. The door was opened and she could see her clearly. When she tried to go into the room, she couldn't get past the doorframe. It was as if there was a forcefield at the door. She tried for a long time but something wouldn't let her through. She said it freaked her right out. Whenever I pass by that house, I usually see a new car and new furniture there. That house has had a lot of new families move in and then move out. I think they noticed the ghost too. Now, I know it sounds like I could be making this up because, well, not many people can remember all of that from when they were four. But if you had that kind of experience at that age, you would make sure you remembered it.

"The Haze Started To Whisper"

Received: Dec 19, 2010

One ordinary night I was walking up the stairs to my bedroom, when I tripped and fell down. When I looked up at the top of the stairs I saw a haze that started to whisper queitly. I could only understand half of what it was saying. I heard a raspy voice whisper "why are you in my house?" I then started to get shivers up and down my spine. The night after this I was laying in my bed thinking about the day before. As I was thinking about the strange haze at the top of the stairs I heard a knock on my bedroom door. I lived alone at the time so I was really scared. I was too scared to move so I waited a few seconds to see if I was hearing thigs. Then another knock sounded on my window. I yelled "go away", and then my window got opened by an unseen force and a cool breeze hit my face. A couple years ago they tore down the house I used to live in. They said that because it was really old it was possible that I could have inhaled some intoxicating fumes that made me hallucinate all this. But I think that there was something different going on, something more...

"Johnny Visits"

by: Dan
[Hamilton, Ontario]
Received: Dec 12, 2010

When I was young, my nextdoor neighbour and I went with his mother to visit his grandma. His grandpa had passed away in the home some years before. The house was massive. It was three floors, basement and an attic. My friend was telling me about the house and when he pointed to the basement, he told me how he never goes down there. He was too afraid. His grandma said, "you're not afraid of Johnny". I asked "who's Johnny?" His grandma replied, "John's my late husband". I felt they were just trying to pull something on me and just shrugged it off.

Later that evening, my friend's grandma asked his mom if she wanted to stay the night. His mom asked my friend and I about staying and of course we were excited. My friend's grandmother and mother said they would be sleeping on the second floor and we could sleep on the third. Before bed, she told me that it was no problem leaving the seat up in the washroom if we used it during the night because it was just us two boys and each level had its own bathroom. Though my friend and I were talking, telling jokes and giggling, we eventually nodded off. Later in the night, I was woken by the sound of the toilet flushing on our floor. It was then I realized that my friend was still laying beside me and he had also woken up. We refused to get out of bed and check, though we rationalized that someone must have been using the washroom on our floor for some reason. After awhile, we both dozed off again.

Come morning, while sitting at the table for breakfast, my friend asked, "Who used the washroom on the third floor last night?" With a blank stare on their faces, his mother and grandma looked at each other, then his mom said, "I never used the washroom at all during the night" and his grandma likewise said, "I slept straight through the night".

To this day we're not sure who used the third floor washroom. But do you know what was really strange? Both the toilet seat and lid were down before bed when his grandma told us we could leave the seat up. By morning, the seat and lid were up, yet no one in the house used any of the washrooms during the night.
